Levels of Home Care Packages
Rather than moving to a residential care facility, home care allows older Australians to live independently at home, safely and comfortably.
When approved for a subsidized home care package in Eastern Suburbs appropriate to their care needs, the senior person may receive a suitable level of support and care.
There are four home care levels with varying package funds and services.
In-home Care Eastern Suburbs Home Care Package Level 1
A Level 1 package offers support for essential or basic care needs. A senior loved one who can perform most of their daily tasks but requires some assistance may benefit from having this package. It features one or two visits per week by a care worker.
Examples of assistance provided at this level of a home care package in Eastern Suburbs typically include assistance with meal preparation, tidying up at home, grooming, shopping, and transportation.
In-home Care Eastern Suburbs Home Care Package Level 2
Home care level 2 may mean about 3-4 visits by a care worker per week. It can involve assistance with house cleaning, personal health support like dressing or grooming, help to prepare meals, transport, and shopping.
In-home Care Eastern Suburbs Home Care Package Level 3
This level of the home care package provides support for the elderly who may have one or more health issues. This level is suited for those with memory loss or behavioural changes. They typically require more support to continue living at home. This level may include visits from a nurse or care worker most days per week.
With home care level 3, the elderly will also have access to highly trained medical staff for health monitoring, management of medication, and nutritional support. Some health services are often subsidized at this level like physiotherapy, for example.
In-home Care Eastern Suburbs Home Care Package Level 4
Seniors with complex health issues, limited mobility, and nursing requirements can benefit from this level of a home care package in Eastern Suburbs. It includes daily visits from a nurse or care worker.
As this is the highest level of a home care package, support is available for medical, nursing support, as well as help at home.
You need to go for an aged care assessment to determine the level of the package an elderly loved one is qualified to receive and the level of funding available.
